Dean Answers Questions About First Date Tab

Donald asks…

On a first date, do I pick up the tab?

OK, I met this really nice (and cute) girl. I asked her out, and she said yes. We want to go to a sushi place. Now my question: should I pick up the tab on our first date? Yes? No? Depends on how the date goes? (If yes, on what?) Will she be offended if I DON’T pick up the tab? Or alternately, will she be offended IF I pick up the tab? Help!!!

Dean answers:

Youre the guy, its a date, you pay no matter if its a first date or the 200th date. The girl can pay for stuff every now and then, but be a man and pay for the girl youre taking out. If you dont want to pay, maybe you REALLY dont like this girl…..

Thomas asks…

hello ladies, do you like a guy to pay the tab on the first date or do you prefer for you to pick it up?

example: first date he picks up the dinner tab, then 2econd date you pick it up. do you take advantage of his money or do you prefer to pay for your own stuff
well i recently i paid for my first date tab, then the second date she paid. i mean i like a flexible giver

Dean answers:

I’m all about gender equality, and I think it should probably be split.

As a girl, you don’t want to feel like you owe the guy anything – not even a second date if you’re not into him – so I always find it’s best to split everything. Or, at least leave the tip if he picks up the check.

Once you decide to start dating on a regular basis, you can start treating each other.

I like to pay for my own stuff, but if my BF offers to pay for my movie ticket or buy me a drink, I’m not gonna turn it down. And I treat him to things also. 50/50

Richard asks…

How can enter a date in one tab, that will be picked up in other tabs?

I want to be able to put in a date in a cell in the first tab, and then I can enter a formula in other the tabs, that will pick up the date from the first tab. So in other words I don’t want to have to copy and paste the same date 10 times?

Thanks

Dean answers:

Click in Sheet 1 (tab 1) and the enter your date in cell A1 (for example).

Click across to Sheet 2 (tab 2) and then enter the equals sign into cell A1 there (for example) which will start off a new formula in cell A1.

Then click back into Sheet 1 and click cell A1 that contains the date, then press Enter.

And you should now see the date from Sheet1!A1 in Sheet2!A2

I hope that’s what you meant!

Michael asks…

How can a woman go about offering to pay on a first date?

I think that men should always pick up the tab on a first date but a lot of people think the woman should at least offer to pay. My question is how would a woman go about offering to pay for their half of the date without making it awkward?

Dean answers:

If I ask you out, I pay. If you ask me out, I am still going to pay. I might let you do something later, like buy a popcorn or soda. However, dinner is on me. A gentleman always pays.

David asks…

First date….?

who should pay on the first date? If the guy asks the girl out, should he pick up the whole tab? Just wondering your thoughts on this sometimes very awkward situation.

Dean answers:

What I do on first dates, is offer to pay so you don’t sound cheap, but then he should offer as well.
If he does offer, let him pay but ask if he’s sure first, rather than just saying, “Okay!”
If he doesn’t offer, say you’re a little short on money and ask if he could pitch in.
If he expected you to pay and didn’t have any money with him,
major un-kudos for him.

Charles asks…

Do you always pay the tab on your first date?

Dean answers:

I let him pay on the first few dates with my boyfriend of 8 years. Then I would pick up the tip, and after that we sort of split things however we could. Or if he was low on cash, I’d pay for the entire thing. He makes twice as much as I do. When I come into cash, like overtime or hitting a fairly good amount in the lottery, or get a nice tax refund, I am very generous.

Paul asks…

Women? Does it offend you if a guy offers to pick up the tab on a first date?

Dean answers:

Heck no!
Thats how it should be all the time!!!

William asks…

When you date someone, who picks up the tab for diners etc?

The man, or if you’re dating someone the same gender, you’re own way, as there no different gender rules. Because in the past if I had I would at least first date pay up. I would give them a reason to want to be in the lady role. If it didn’t come to sex, they’d be in front and if it did, they’d be up any way or it wouldn’t last that long and they’d get a few freebies. What are opinons on who should pick up the tab in these ‘equal’ days? or are you old fashioned?

Dean answers:

I think paying for one self makes everything a whole lot simpler..in all seriousness I’d prefer to keep it simple!
