Dean Answers Questions About Get Directions

How can I get good biking directions online?

I was wondering say I want to go from on place to another in the city. By car driving directions, you would have to pass bridges and high ways where bikes are not allowed. How can one get directions to go from one location to another with biking directions?

Dean answers:

If you are in a country not covered by mapquest, try maps.google.com and select directions to be “walking” rather than “by car”. It will take highway speeds out of the the algorithm to find the best route, although it will still only account for road directions mostly (ie. Dedicated bike/walking paths may not be included).

What is a good map website for directions and construction information?

I do alot of traveling and get hung up in a lot of construction. I am currently looking for a website that will not only provide driving directions, but would also give me the construction information I need to get to my desination the quickest way possible. I have tried mapquest, yahoo, and google and they are not what I am looking for.

Dean answers:

I have found a website that has worked quite well for me. You can get driving directions with construction information along your route. The website that I go to is http://www.mapetc.com They appear to be fairly new but their construction information that I have used is pretty accurate. Good Luck

What would happen if a spaceship pilot forgets directions after reaching space?

what would happen say, if a spaceship pilot reaches moon but then forgets directions how to get back to earth. Instead he flies in wrong directions. What is his chance of returning back to earth through guesswork of directions?

For example on road if a motorist forgets directions, he roams around but eventually making u-turns and following signs he gets back to the right place.

Can that be done in space too for spaceship pilot?

Dean answers:

It’s not possible. You’re limiting your thinking to earth thinking where we have horizons and buildings and trees and mountains that block our view and distort our sense of direction. Basically in space, you have the astronaut telling Mission Control where he is at given intervals. His job is to confirm the path that the planners at Mission Control have layed out for him months in advance. The real guidance is done by hundreds of earthlings at Mission Control. They’re constantly checking the location and speed of the spacecraft at all times. An astronaut cannot get lost in space. The reason the guidance is done on earth is to save space and weight on the spacecraft, and to keep the astronaut from getting overworked.

From which directions do planes land and take off at McCarran International Airport?

Next month I’ll be flying on Southwest from San Francisco to Houston with a layover in Vegas.

From which directions do planes land and take off at McCarran International Airport?

I want to get a bird’s eye view of Sam Boyd Stadium during the plane’s approach to and/or departure from Vegas.

A lot of my friends who have flown into Vegas managed to get a glimpse of Sam Boyd Stadium from the plane. So I was wondering which side of the plane I should be sitting in order to see the stadium.

What are the chances of spotting Sam Boyd Stadium while descending into and/or taking off from McCarran International Airport?

Dean answers:

It changes according to the weather. Most days the planes land from the west and from the south. There are two runways. It depends on which runway your plane uses and what landing pattern it takes. No way of telling.

How do I get Directions To Mexico online?

I need to get directions From Indiana to Jalsico Mexico. I tried to use Mapquest but it keeps saying invalid so does anyone know where I can get directions to go there online. I need to know an estimated time on how long it will take me to get there as well.
Sorry, I know how to spell Jalisco. I didint realize I typed it wrong.

Dean answers:

You can use Mapquest to get you from Indiana to a Texas border crossing (maybe McAllen/Reynose?). And then use the site below to plot the route from the border town to the town in Jalisco you want. It’s in Spanish, but it will give you a map, roads, distance, driving time and tolls.
