Dean Answers Questions About Online Dating Tips

Richard asks…

Never had a boyfriend and now I’m going to try online dating, any tips?

I’m 19, a uni student who’s never experienced this thing called love. So I’ve decided after all the failed attempts at trying to win a guy over with my wit and charm, I’m going to take this into my own hands and try my hand at online romancing. Any tips? Thanks!

Michael asks…

Does anyone have any tips for online dating profiles?

I recently joined eHarmony.com. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions on what kinds of information I should and what kinds I shouldn’t leave out of my dating profile?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Dean answers:

Tell the truth about yourself but highlight interests that are appealing to women. (Same should be true for women as well.) I love to go shopping, the color pink and cute fuzzy baby animals, but I’m not going to tell a guy this. I do tell him things that he might be interested in doing with me. I enjoy cooking, jogging, etc. As a girl, the biggest turn off ever is to talk about how much you love things that a girl is unlikely to be interested in. For example don’t talk about how your are obsessed wiht sports on your profile. Yes, you’re a guy, I expect you to like sports. If you tell me how much you love sporting events, I assume all we are going to do is watch football. I like sports, but I don’t love them. There are a few girls out there that are sports fanatics, but most are somewhat uninterested.

Seem confident in your profile and don’t mention any of your flaws. Everyone has flaws, but you want the person to discover these flaws once they like you enough to forgive you for them. A funny profile is more likely to get responses then a boring one.

Also, don’t talk about sex in any capacity. If you say you have a high sex drive, love sex, are a good lover, I think you are a creeper and only interested in some booty. I never replied to guys who talked about sex on their profile, ever.

Daniel asks…

give some best online dating tips?

Dean answers:

Since you are a guy…I will tell you the number one thing to watch out for when it comes to chick profiles. I have been on a dating site before so I know a little. Watch out for fake profiles!! The dudes out number the chicks….so when a chick is no longer active…the site will recycle her profile…contact a guy…and you will never hear from her again. Really read their profile! If it sounds too good to be true…it probably is! Girls have to watch out for players and guys have to watch out for gold diggers. So, don’t display your earnings on your profile or what you do…it is none of their business until you become a little more serious. Don’t seem over anxious when talking to a girl. I was going to meet up with a couple of guys but decided not to when they would fill up my inbox before even meeting. So be cool, act yourself, and have fun. You will meet a lot of freaks, lol! But overall I had a great experience.

Any tips for online dating?

Ok I’ve decided to take the plunge and give online dating a try but I’m not sure what I need to do to attract women online. I’m currently using the photo linked below as it’s the most recent I have.

Tips on online dating? How to keep the interest?

I have been talking to this great person for a month now, but I am a month away from moving back out of state back to near my home town /home state when I will finally have a change to meet her.
We’ve covered basics- friends family and religion.. it is starting to feel safe and comfortable. How can i keep her interested, but not go too far and not give her too much of a chance to get bored. A couple of cousins have gotten married through eharmony, so dont give me cr@p about online dates. (also if i had wanted to stay where i am or move with other people, i’ve turned down some tempting offers)
Any tactics of your basic longterm relationship basically apply.

thanks
talking too much about sex was the one thing i was afraid might cause second thoughts.
dialogue is easier in person mixed with first dates its easier to be playful without email.

Honestly we email almost everyday… i dont know if i need to be more laid back.

Dean answers:

If she is still talking to you I think she will be interested when you get there.

Chris asks…

What are tips on how to avoid players with online dating? What should I look for in the profile?

What are things to look for or avoid in profiles if I am looking for someone who wants more than casual dating? I am looking for someone interested in a long-term relationship.

Dean answers:

Yes

Charles asks…

any (safety) tips for online dating?

any (safety) tips for online dating?

Dean answers:

Use common sense and only meet once you have exchanged enough emails to make you feel comfortable. I usually emailed for a week or two, sometimes longer, depending on the person, before I met up with anyone. I also found that its MUCH safer to use site you pay for because only those who are subscribed and only those with a subscription can email you back and forth. A subscription helps add some legitimacy to them because they need a credit card to subscribe and that creates a paper trail. Pay sites also allow you to interact without ever revealing your email address, so if you want to end it, you can right away and with no way for the other party to contact you.

Which online dating site has the most good people, any tips?

I want to join a dating site but am afraid of what’s out there. I would like to meet a quality person for a long term relationship. Any suggestions on ones you’d recommend? Am in Los Angeles if that makes a difference. I had put up a nice one on Craigslist but got some immature responses.
