Picking up girls day-2-day? No clubs or bars?

I am good with bars or clubs, that part I get. I am more troubled about day to day, girls you work in the same building with, or live in the same building with, or see frequently on your commute.

My strategy was to be over nice, I am good at conversation I would usually open and I can keep things going. From that I try and gauge signals if I should ask the girl out, results in 1 of 2 things 1) I ask them out they say no, that’s usually the end of my communication with her, I don’t snub her, I just don’t put effort into talking with her like I did b4, she does the same and that it. 2) I ask them out and they say no, but want to be friends, more so then before… those are the ones that usually give me the “boyfriend” excuse.

I tried to “not” be the nice guy, I am not mean, but I won’t hold doors open, I won’t try and start up a friendly conversation. This seems to be working from the point of view of less rejection, but end result is about the same as I never talk to any girls anymore
