Dean Answers Questions About Pick Up Women In Class

Chris asks…

women! – what are some good opening lines that men use to talk to you? that make you want to get to know him?

Im around tons of women in my class and i want to get to know them. Also what are good opening lines (not corny pick up lines) to meet random women in grocery stores, malls…you get the point.

help is greatly appreciated!

Dean answers:

Usually “hello” works well.

You don’t really need a good opening line. Most women would talk to you if you make an effort to talk to them. Since you’re in classes and things like that just comment about it. Use your surroundings to come up with your “opening line”

i hope that helps.

Michael asks…

Women, if Representations of men and women in all aspects of media are not equal ?

AND “Most cultural commentators recognise that male representations on TV, for example, outweigh those of women 4:1 Just have a flick through the channels and do a headcount, does not have to be sophisticated. Or take a look at news programmes to see whose activities and behaviours are reported most. Sports programmes to feature films, still debate in the movie industry about poor role ratios for actresses of certain ages etc. As for negative portrayals, advertising is still very skewed, exploiting and objectifying women. If you argue that men are exploited too, in what ways? And who actually controls the media industry, it is a myth that it is women!
From movies to video games the overriding narratives are male orientated and dominated, girls and women often must subvert the text to be part of the story. Positive roles and activities regarding women and their exploits are fewer than those of men. So, still worse for women. Not as obvious as the 50′s/60′s but still poor.
There are representations of men which are negative, but analyse these carefully. They are often linked to jokes and stereotypes around class, race, sexuality and gender. So, a fat guy in a vest would not be used to advertise expensive fragrance, but the lazy working class bloke would be used in a jokey ad when women are tempted to buy diet coke etc. And it is hardly a terrible slur when the joke that men propogate is that they are too dumb to do house chores and that is why air freshener ads portray them like that!
Male gender is often over layered with those other issues.”

Why do women NOT pick up pen and write the good stuff, where other women would naturally tune in/go to the cinema to support it?
NO ONE ON THE PLANET WOULD DENY A BIG SUCCESS, RIGHT?

Dean answers:

Oh! To see my ramblings plucked like that makes me all moist. And Elvis darling, to insult someone in such a tawdry way by questioning their very sex, because you do not agree with them is so beneath you. Often someone can be so ignorant they would not realise how stupid they are!
And what if the gender war is a convenient way of keeping us squabbling while the issues of class inequality and racial inequity is propogated subliminally and overtly while you score cheap points and the dominant ideology is left unchallenged? But you would not care about that as long as you could get Cartoon Network on your cable!
